2026–2027 flu vaccine at home for seniors, frail and disabled patients from Mobile Physician Associates in Los Angeles

Mobile Physician Associates makes flu vaccination easier for older, frail, homebound and disabled patients.

For many older adults, getting a flu vaccine is not as simple as stopping by a pharmacy. Mobility limitations, frailty, chronic illness, transportation difficulties and disability can make even a routine vaccination challenging.

At Mobile Physician Associates, care comes to you. Our medical team provides in-home care, allowing eligible patients to receive important preventive services including the 2026–2027 influenza vaccine—in the comfort and safety of home.

Why Flu Vaccination Is Especially Important After Age 65

Influenza can affect anyone, but adults 65 years and older are at substantially greater risk of serious complications. Age-related changes in the immune system, combined with conditions such as heart disease, lung disease, diabetes and other chronic illnesses, can make influenza much more dangerous.

The CDC recommends annual influenza vaccination for everyone 6 months and older who does not have a contraindication, and vaccination is particularly important for people at increased risk of serious flu complications.

For adults 65 and older, CDC preferentially recommends certain higher-dose or adjuvanted influenza vaccines when available.

Flu Vaccination Helps Keep Older Adults Out of the Hospital

Influenza vaccination is not just about preventing a few uncomfortable days of illness. Its most important benefit for our older and medically vulnerable patients is reducing the risk of severe disease, complications and hospitalization.

During the severe 2024–2025 influenza season, CDC estimates that vaccination prevented approximately 10 million illnesses, 5 million medical visits, 180,000 hospitalizations and 12,000 deaths in the United States.

Even when vaccination does not completely prevent influenza, it can reduce the severity of illness and the likelihood of serious complications.

For Our Frail, Disabled and Homebound Patients: We Come to You

A patient should not have to miss an important vaccination simply because getting to a medical office or pharmacy is difficult.

That is one of the reasons Mobile Physician Associates provides medical care in the home.

Our house-call model is particularly valuable for patients who are:

  • 65 years and older

  • Frail or medically complex

  • Homebound or mobility impaired

  • Living with a physical disability

  • Dependent on a walker, wheelchair or caregiver

  • Living with multiple chronic medical conditions

  • At increased risk from exposure in crowded public settings

Instead of arranging transportation, navigating a pharmacy or spending time in a waiting room, eligible patients can receive care where they are most comfortable at home.

2026–2027 Influenza Vaccine

Mobile Physician Associates is now offering the 2026–2027 influenza vaccine to our patients.

Annual vaccination is especially important for older adults because influenza can worsen underlying medical conditions and lead to complications such as pneumonia, dehydration and exacerbations of heart or lung disease.

Because protection takes approximately two weeks to develop after vaccination, patients should ideally be vaccinated before influenza begins circulating widely in the community.

Protecting the Patient Also Means Protecting the Household

We also encourage family members and caregivers of frail and medically vulnerable patients to receive their annual influenza vaccination.

Reducing influenza exposure among the people who regularly enter a patient's home creates another layer of protection for individuals most likely to experience serious complications.

You Don't Have to Come to the Doctor. The Doctor Comes to You.

For more than routine vaccination, Mobile Physician Associates provides comprehensive medical care designed around the needs of older and medically complex patients.
